Woman and teen charged after 17-year-old stabbed on New Year’s Eve
Two people have been charged over the alleged stabbing of a teenage boy on New Year’s Eve.
Police were called to a home in the Shellharbour suburb of Albion Park Rail, a short drive south of Wollongong, at 5pm that day.
The caller said a man had been stabbed.
When officers and paramedics arrived, they found the 17-year-old with a stab wound to his shoulder.
He was treated there before being taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.
A picture from the scene shows three paramedics and a police officer bent over a person lying sideways on the ground outside a home.
Police arrested two people at the scene, a 17-year-old boy and a 30-year-old woman.
They were taken to Lake Illawarra police station, where the teen was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, and reckless wounding in company.
The woman was charged with common assault.
They were both granted conditional bail and are expected to appear in two different courts.
The boy will face a children’s court on January 19, and the woman will face Port Kembla Local Court the following month.
