Monash Freeway reopened after crash
All city-bound traffic has been allowed back on the Monash Freeway at Springvale Road after an allegedly stolen car crashed on the major thoroughfare on Monday morning.
But the offenders are still on the run.
The freeway was closed about 5am and wasn’t expected to reopen until midday.
But the Department of Transport said traffic was again flowing about 9.15am.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said witnesses reported the vehicle “driving erratically” and at speed inbound before it’s believed the driver lost control between Springvale and Blackburn roads about 4.50am.
Police are investigating a report that up to four offenders were then seen running from the car.
Officers have scoured the area but have not yet been able to locate anyone.
The crash caused damage to the road surface and barrier.
Anyone with information should phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
